¿Qué es el Trinity Exam? / What is Trinity?

El programa bilingüe de la Comunidad de Madrid lleva a cabo pruebas externas al final de cada ciclo de la Educación Primaria. Al finalizar el Primer Ciclo, el "Trinity College of London" es el organismo encargado de realizar la prueba correspondiente.

Madrid bilingual program carry out external tests at the end of each cycle in Primary Education. When students finish the first cycle of Primary Education they take the Trinity College of London GSE test.

¿En qué consiste este examen? What is the GSE trimity exam?

Es una prueba exclusivamente oral, que evalúa el grado de corrección, el dominio de vocabulario, la pronunciación y la fluidez con la que un alumno es capaz de comunicarse en inglés, según el grado de conocimientos exigidos en su nivel.

GSE Trinity Exam is an oral test aimed to test vocabulary, pronunciación, fluency and accuracy. The aim is to check if the student is able to comunicate in English using the contents in the level.

Hay doce grados Trinity (todos ellos homologados por el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas del Consejo de Europa), y están divididos en cuatro etapas:

Inicial (niveles 1-3)

Elemental (niveles 4-6)

Intermedio (niveles 7-8)

Avanzado (niveles 10-12)

There are 12 Graded Examinations in Spoken English (all grades have been mapped to Common European Framework of Reference). The 12 Graded Examinations are oganised in four development stages:

Initial stage (grades 1-3)

Elementary stage (grades 4-6)

Intermediate stage (grades 7-9)

Advanced stage (grades 10-12)

Los alumnos de segundo de Primaria se presentarán al grado 3.

Year 2 students will take Grade 3 examination.

El examen de la etapa consiste en una conversación breve con el examinados, que será un hablante nativo (en el grado 3 son 7 minutos).

The exam takes the form of a one-to-one oral convesation between the candidate and an examiner (7 minutes).

Los contenidos exigidos en cada grado suponen tener adquiridos los contenidos de los grados anteriores. Es decir, que un alumno que se presenta al grado 3 debe tener adquiridos los contenidos de los grados anteriores.

Contents required at each grade suppose the acquisition of previous grades contents. A student taking grade 3 examination is supposed to master grade 1 and grade 2 contents.

Cuando se supera un examen de Trinity, el estudiante obtiene un informe individual y un diploma que acredita sus conocimientos en el nivel realizado:

A- Distinction (Sobresaliente)

B- Merit (Notable)

C- Pass (Aprobado)

D- Fail (Suspenso)

The examiner assesses the candidate´s performance by awarding a letter grade and if the candiate has achieved a pass level he receives a certificate:

A- Distinction

B- Merit

C- Pass

D- Fail

En nuestro proyecto hemos decidido empezar la preparación a este examen desde el primer curso. Dentro del área de "English" dedicamos todas las semanas una sesión a trabajar los contenidos exigidos en el Trinity. En esta página iremos poniendo los contenidos que vamos trabajando así como actividades para que nuestros alumn@s puedan practicar en casa.

Our school bilingual projects stablish 1 hour per week to practice for the Trinity Exam. From Year 1 students will work Trinity Exams contents once a week. In this blog section we will upload contents and activities so students can practice at home.
